Interview of Gigi Iam by Beatrice Davis of No Strings Attached

Good afternoon Gigi and thank you for permitting us to interview you. We have known each other for some time and have become good friends. You are one credible woman who has with hard work achieved a successful entertainment career. I would like to share your story with our readers.

NSAEN: I would like to start by talking about your current project "The Gigi Iam Show." When did you develop the show and why did you decide to create your own talk show?

Gigi Iam: It's crazy how things come to be sometimes. As a singer, songwriter, dramatic and comedic actress I wanted to perform more music, as well as, get more roles that told real stories, and at the same time programs on television just weren't showing us in the best light, and I decided to do something about both. I wasn't sure what I could do so, I used my love for writing and began to write more and more quality content. As a writer, different stories started pouring out of me on paper. I know I wanted to see more positive, triumphant, optimistic programs in music, television and movies. This is how The Gigi Iam Show came about. I told a good friend of mine about what I'd been doing and working on, and he suggested that I take a producers class, which I did and the next thing you know, I'm producing and hosting my own talk show, bam!

NSAEN: Who have you been able to interview and are there any particular celebrities you would like to interview in the future and why?

Gigi Iam: I'm very fortunate. I've been able to interview great celebrities. It's been an honor. We are a celebrity loving society and it's understandable. For the most part these are wonderful people who are driven, ambitious and tenacious. This makes for a powerful formula of inspiration. It is very admirable when a person has climbed the ranks and achieved greatness. When this type of person is willing to share his or her failures and victories for others to learn from, something magical happens and I love being a part of it. I've had the opportunity to interview Icon Fred (the Hammer) Williamson; the most Famous manager dad in the world Mr. Joe Jackson; the original M.J. NBA All Star Marques Johnson; the very soulful and sexy R&B singing sensation and former lead singer of Shalamar: Howard Hewett; Soul R&B Legend Lenny Williams, and the Legendary regal honorable Sidney Poitier just to name a few. I would love to interview Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, I would've loved to interview Whitney Houston; also Halle Berry, Denzel Washington and Bill Gates. I'm inspired by the way they think.

NSAEN: Where do you see The Gigi Iam Talk Show in the next couple of years, and what is your goal with the show?

Gigi Iam: I see the show being syndicated worldwide. One of my goals is to start a movement using positive, empowering entertainment and music to reach our youth, families, communities, nations and the world. Our show has become very popular and that's a wonderful feeling, however we have to get to a level where we're being broadcasted to every household in America and even Internationally. I know it's a big dream, and I've always been told that if you're going to dream at all, dream big. However, I'm grateful for where I am right now on my journey.

NSAEN: You are originally from the Mid-West but went to the East Coast to pursue modeling. Are there many fond memories of living in Chicago? Did you move to Los Angeles because you wanted to pursue a career in acting? Is it as easy in LA as it is in Chicago or New York?

Gigi Iam: Wow! I love Chicago. I love the people. I have many fond memories of growing up in "The Windy City". What's up Chi-Town?! Chicago has some of the best food in the world OMG! It's one of the best places where you can get the best cheese and cameral covered popcorn. This particular place I'm talking about would have lines of people wrapped around the corner for blocks waiting to buy popcorn, and I'd be in that line too. I recently received a big canned package of it sent to me as a gift. It's hard to stop eating. Chicago is known for some of the best spots for dancing...hey the roof is always on fire! Let's not forget the sometimes brutally cold winters. It can get cold, but it can be fun too. I moved to Los Angeles because I was compelled to do so. It was a very spiritual move for me. I woke up one early morning, I started packing and wanting to leave for California. It turns out that at the time I moved it was two weeks before 911 and I had lived about five blocks away from the twin towers at the time. Mostly everyone I know that was involved made it out without any harm to them. Since living in California it has been a real blessing to me in many ways. I believe in being at the right place at the right time and this is where I am meant to be right now. I love it here in L.A. I love the people too. I'm singing and writing music which is my first love. I've lived in Chicago, New York and now California and I will tell you each city is unique and great unto itself. I've had the opportunity to travel and be involved in the communities of each. Chicago is a family town; folks will invite you over for dinner, they'll take you in as one of their own. New York is fun, vibrant, and fast and you can make lots of money. I love New York; I love the glitz, the people, and the pace. Being in California has helped me to focus and commit to bringing results for my purpose, my true calling and I've become more grounded. It's been a place of warmth and beauty.

NSAEN: Since it is all about dedication and staying focused in this business, who has been your most vital support and influence so far to stay on the road to success?

Gigi Iam: For me it is Almighty God. Because of The Most High God, I have learned to never give up no matter what. I stay faithful, and continue to pray. I keep an attitude of gratitude, and that everything is always working out for the good.

NSAEN: I read that your big idol is Oprah, have you ever met her and would you like to interview her one day on your show?

Gigi Iam: I think of Oprah as a mentor figure. If Oprah Winfrey can do it, I, Gigi Iam can do it. I kinda, sort of met Oprah once, this was in Chicago. I had gotten tickets to sit in the audience years ago. I went to the ladies room and guess who was in there...Ms. Oprah Winfrey herself using the bathroom too. I would absolutely love to interview Oprah, are you kidding me?! Do you know someone, who knows someone? I've been told I was six people away from actually getting the hook up to meet Ms. Oprah. I hope I'm closer now. I can see it... Gigi interviews Oprah! I'm smiling big time.

NSAEN: Do you have any dream guests for the show? And if so who are they?

Gigi Iam: Yes I do. A few are Mariah Carey, Dr. Patricia E. Bath, Lonnie G. Johnson, David Geffen, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Robert Kiyosaki, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates and Conan O'Brien, he is so funny, I love him.

NSAEN: What has been your most incredible interview to this day?

Gigi Iam: Wow, I have amazing guests on my show. Legendary Lenny Williams is a powerful presence, so is Sidney Poitier, he's extremely regal and another living legend who is absolutely wonderful, Howard Hewett.

NSAEN: Do you think you compete with so many other entertainment talk shows that it is really hard to be unique?

Gigi Iam: Absolutely not. The concepts and creative ideas that I have are different and innovative because I believe we're all unique and different. I experience life in my own special way and this gives me plenty of unique material. I think everybody does, we just have to trust our instincts and go with our flow.

NSAEN: I watched your show and you make it seem so easy and fun, but I am certain there is a lot of hard work behind each interview. How do you prepare for your show?

Gigi Iam: Great question. Thank you. I do have a lot of fun, because I love it. I prepare by allowing the ideas to flow by being true to myself and going into it with the intention of being of service and bringing entertainment that is inspiring, fun, informative and educational. It's about being able to deliver a show that will help all of us towards our betterment as a diverse, multicultural people, and a show that all people will enjoy or at least most. I write the show, complete the rundown, contact all guests for production and schedule the tape date and it's a go. It's work, however, I turn the work into fun and I love it.

NSAEN: Do you watch other talk shows, and if so, do you get inspiration and ideas watching them that could improve your show?

Gigi Iam: I use my time to produce and create my own show. I get my inspiration from everyday life. I like to do things differently anyway, bringing something fresh, new and exciting.

NSAEN: What do you like to do in your spare time, when you are not hosting, producing, or acting?

Gigi Iam: I love singing, writing songs, deep down I believe I was born to sing, music compels me, its my true calling, I'm blessed with the Gift of Singing and I love sharing my gift. I absolutely love spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, hosting parties, traveling, reading, research, watching a good thriller or action film.

NSAEN: You have got an incredible body, how do you stay in such incredible shape?

Gigi Iam: Wow, thank you. I have a motto..."Fit for life". I believe in keeping fit by keeping an active life. I love to have a good time, I love celebrating life and this keeps me active. I enjoy good food and I'm very aware of eating modest and keeping my meals balanced for longevity...I do lots of research on Centennials. I'm inspired by Centennials... I do love dessert after my meals, so I make up for it by dancing around the house as a form of working out. My workout consist of a little bit of standing-sit-ups and squats, and then I dance. Dancing is my thing and walking. I usually do lots of walking. I'll walk to the mall and back. Most people in California do not walk, but you will find me walking. Walking is good for the entire body, it works just about every muscle.

NSAEN: What is your favorite food?

Gigi Iam: One of my favorite dishes is old fashion homemade pizza, oh and pasta.

NSAEN: If you had three wishes what would you wish for?

Gigi Iam: Eternal good health, Love always, and a Genie to grant me endless wishes.

NSAEN: This question may sound strange but what makes you emotional?

Gigi Iam: The state of the world.

NSAEN: Three things you can't live without?

Gigi Iam: Hummmm, air, water, food.

NSAEN: What can we expect in the future from Gigi Iam?

Gigi Iam: From Gigi Iam you can expect expansion, increase and growth from us. You can expect generational wealth from us. You can expect innovative, creative music, films, movies, music videos and more innovative creative manifestation of ideas. Expect to hear our name all around the world with large triumphant noise.

NSAEN: Is there anything you would like our readers to know about you?
